KP arrested in Thailand

The new self appointed LTTE leader and chief arms dealer Kumaran Pathmanathan also known as KP has been arrested in Bangkok, Thailand, Foreign Secretary Dr. Palitha Kohona told Daily Mirror online.

The LTTE last month announced that Kumaran Pathmanathan, will lead the struggle for Eelam now that its supreme leader V Prabhakaran has died in action without realizing his dream.

The LTTE executive committee has said KP, who was made head of the international division by Prabhakaran,”will lead us into the next stage of our freedom struggle”.

International Agencies including the U.N has lost it's credibility amongst the Tamils(and many other right thinking people) in the Srilankan issue. The International Agencies and community could not make the GOSL to heed any of the "humanitarian" guidence offered by U.N etc. Now another Intenational Agency-Interpol spells out a blanket term and describe a designated leader of Tamils as "wanted by interpol for arms smuggling". Did the International community and structures believe that the L.T.T.E or for that matter any other militant groups in Srilanka carried on the arms struggle with knives and clubs? International agencies seems to be describing, proscribing and prescribing governments, political parties, groups, organizations and individuals to suit their parochial needs and aspirations.

Tamil Eelam leader not arrested here

acting government spokesman, has denied a news agency report that the new leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka has been arrested in Bangkok.

“The Tamil Eelam leader was not arrested in Thailand as was reported by a foreign news agency,” Mr Panithan said on Friday morning.

He admitted that the person concerned had made visits to Thailand.

State security agencies were checking information relating to the case, he said.

Al-Jazeera news online reported that Selvarajah Pathmanathan was arrested in Thailand, quoting Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara, a Sri Lankan military spokesman.
