EzY Infotech, Dubai to set up computer assembly plant



$ 4m investment with BOI approval ;
The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) granted investment approval to EZY Infotech ((Pvt) Ltd., to assemble Personal Computers and Laptops under the brand name “EZY”.

Chairman/Director General of the BOI Dhammika Perera presents the BOI Certificate of Registrations to Vice President eSys Teledata, Singapore (Pvt) Ltd Ramesh Umashankar. Country Manager, Sri Lanka Operations of EZY Infotech (Pvt) Limited Shafraz Hamazdeen is also present.

Chairman/Director General Dhammika Perera signed the agreement on behalf of the BOI and presented the BOI Certificate of Registration to Country Manager, Sri Lanka Operations Shafraz Hamzadeen and Vice President (Emerging Markets) eSys Teledata Singapore (Pte) Limited Ramesh Umashankar, Co-ordination Officer - DCM Ms Malavika Cassiere was also present at the occasion.
EZY Global Holdings has operations in over 30 countries with four computer manufacturing facilities in Dubai, Singapore, China and Brazil and plans to launch its fifth plant next month in Sri Lanka.
EZY Infotech Ltd signed an agreement to set up a computer assembling plant for the local and export markets. Hamzadeen said that the company will provide high quality reliable Personal Computers and Laptops at an affordable price. EZY Infotech will primarily focus on the Sri Lankan market. The company will also export their products to the South Asian and international markets through their distribution network.
Manufacturing will be done at the state of the art manufacturing plant in Ratmalana. Hamzadeen described the plant as Sri Lanka’s first high tech computer manufacturing plant. The facility will use an automated assembling process with skilled human interaction to ensure that the company does not discount the human touch in the facility. EZY Infotech Limited, plans on investing US$ 4 million within the first year of operations in Sri Lanka.
The manufacturing facility will be the first of its kind in the country and will have a capacity of manufacturing over 70,000 computers annually.
The company plans to implement its own ‘Shop Floor Management (SMS) system’ which would enable manufacturing of quality products and at the same time maintain high standards in practices. EZY Infotech intends on not only manufacturing their own branded PCs but also provide contract manufacturing for other leading brands out of Sri Lanka.
Vice President (Emerging Markets) Ramesh Umashankar said that it is the ideal time to invest in the Sri Lankan IT sector with the government declaring the year 2009 as the Year of English and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Education.
